The Feral pigeon is an ancestor of the rare Rock Dove. Pigeons can be found across the globe in towns and cities, well adapted to survive and thrive in numerous climates and conditions. Not to be confused with the Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove or Turtle Dove which inhabit the countryside and gardens.

Feral pigeons (up to 49%) could possibly carry infectious disease that can be passed to humans. Feral pigeons can cause real problems, including excessive nuisance and public health concerns.

Feral pigeons are opportunists when it comes to finding nesting sites. They have taken advantage of Solar Panels being installed on domestic and business roofs. The panels provide an optimum covered area for the pigeons to nest, breed and roost. Pest professionals are retrospectively mesh proofing the sides of the solar panels, removing pigeon guano and fouling from under the solar panels.

Other methods of control and management can include; trapping, bird spikes, bird wire, netting, optical gels and laser bird scarers.
